Scope and Contents

This collection consists of correspondence and school memorabilia from Eleanor Shane’s early life. Cards and letters illustrate Eleanor’s social life while the school items showcase her education and activities as an elementary school student through college. In addition to the various school items, there are also two memory books in which Eleanor recorded aspects of her time as a student at Mt. Washington School.

This collection contains materials related to Lone Jack High School in Lone Jack, Missouri. The majority of the collection is student newspapers, most of which were created during World War II, offering insights to the experiences of students during the conflict. Two student newspapers are included, Newetta and School Daze. One folder contains issues and pages with no dates. There is also a folder containing a program for the schools 1946 Dramatics Contests.

This collection contains a scrapbook from Maude Zallee Jefferis. This scrapbook primarily contains messages, autographs, photographs, drawings, and paintings from her classmates at Soldan High School in St. Louis, Missouri. There are also two groups of photos in the collection which were found in the scrapbook. These include senior photographs of Zallee Jeffries’s classmates, as well as some older photographs of babies, which are unidentified.
