Bollard Family Collection
Scope and Contents
A majority of the collections is research collected by Don Bollard III. His research spans not just his branch of the Bollard family, but others as well. His research contains research correspondence for information from institutions and distant relatives in relation to various family branches. Research-based items are housed in the collection such as genealogical charts, census records, ancestry website information, research notes, cemetery listings, and regional maps. Other materials in the collection are photographs, books, pamphlets, and document scans. Document scans include death certificates and applications for Daughters of the American Revolution.

Biographical / Historical
The Bollard Family stems from Richard Bollard (1764-1845) and Elizabeth (Kilby) Bollard (1764-1863). Richard Bollard was born November 18th, 1764 in Harrington. Elizabeth was be born August 5, 1764 in Harrington. He and Eliza married in December 26, 1790 in Rothwell. Together they had 12 children, 9 of which lived to adulthood. One of their sons was John Bollard. He was born in Thorrington, Northamptonshire, England in 1810. He came to the United States in 1837 as a shoemaker where he landed in New York, then traveled to Canada for a short time. He purchased a farm near Geneva, Ohio where he married Elzina Barnum (1819-1869). They moved for a short period to Hapersfield, Ohio and then to Conneaut Township, Pennsylvania in 1850. John Bollard passed away September 20, 1879. On the anniversary of his 100th birthday, all of his descendants gathered in 1910 to celebrate. This transformed into a yearly family reunion tradition.
