This collection consists of three Bibles belonging to Andrew Jackson Walker’s family. One bible contains an inscription stating Andrew Jackson Walker as the original owner, gifted to him by his sister Lucy Ann Franklin. Another bible belonged to Andrew Jackson Walker’s son Andrew J. Walker, gifted to him by his sister Emma E. Walker, the donor’s great-grandmother. Birth dates for a few family members are written in the Bible as well. This collection consists of diaries written by members of the Joel M. Walker and Charles R. McCann families. These diaries describe the lives of farmers and their families. In addition to recording family life, these diaries also recorded historical events happening around Iowa and the United States. All diaries were written in Cedar and Muscatine counties in Iowa.
