Vaile Family Collection
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of genealogical information relating to the life of Harvey Merrick Vaile. Included within this collection are written family as well as oral history. Both the family and oral history were created by Harvey M. Vaile’s great Grandnephew Ernest Virgil Vaile, Jr. The oral history was originally created in 1997 and was saved on a VHS tape. Midwest Genealogy Center staff converted this VHS tape to a DVD. Both VHS and DVD can be accessed in this collection. In addition, there is a 3 ½ x 5 inch floppy disk that contains the electronic copy of the family history. The disk is unreadable.

Biographical / Historical
Ernest Vaile was born in 1950 to Ernest Virgil and Doris Vaile in Jasper County, Missouri. He married Ginger Catron in May 1975. Ernest was active with in the Carthage, MO community. In addition to his work in Carthage, he was also active in maintaining Vaile properties in Jackson County, MO. One example extends to repairing vandal damage to the Vaile mausoleum located in Independence, MO. Ernest and his family continue to live in the Carthage, MO area.
