Scope and Contents

This collection documents research work Joyce Kindred created for her clients. Records contained in the collection include: genealogical family sheets, photographs, copies of obituaries, census records, and legal documents from the state of Missouri. This collection also contains correspondence between Joyce Kindred and her clients. Biographical / Historical

Joyce Elaine Kindred was born on May 20, 1943 to Oliver Eugene “Gene” Lockart and Florence “Lorene” Estes in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield, Missouri in 1962. Joyce married Jerry E. Carver in October 15, 1960, they had three children. She later married Robert Kindred, on March 19, 1977.

During the later years of her life, Joyce worked for the group Family Tree Climbers, which did genealogical research in a four county area of Missouri. Those four counties consisted of Caldwell, Clay, Clinton and Ray counties. While working as a volunteer for the Family Tree Climbers, Joyce did research for people all over the country who were looking into family members who lived in that four county area.

Joyce resided in Lawson, Ray County, Missouri for a number of years. She passed away on December 13, 2009 while living in the Clinton Care and Rehabilitation Center in Plattsburg, Missouri.
